I think Sony did expect the PS3 to sell better than it did out of the gate, no they did not expect PS2 sales for PS3 right away, but they did expect it to at least outsell and or easily catch the Xbox 360, after all, we didn't expect anyone to buy the new Xbox, the old model sold what 30 million before MS abandoned it? vs PS2s over 100 million. Forza3 is the new benchmark in accuracy for a driving sim. The physics, damage, driving, and sounds are all more true to life in Forza. The effect tuning has on the performance of the cars is also more realistic in Forza3.
The GT series has the big name and thus tends to sell very well but most experts agree that Forza 3 is to this point the best driving sim available on consoles.
GT arguably has superior graphics, but that will likely only be the premium car...
